Congressional Candidate Mark MacKenzie To Speak In Gilmanton

Local Democrats and left-leaning Independents are invited to the April meeting of the Tri-Town Democrats on Monday, April 2nd to hear Congressional District 1 candidate Mark MacKenzie speak.

Mark is a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives (serving on the labor committee), a retired Fire Captain from Manchester with 27 years of service, a community activist, and a progressive leader who was the president of the AFL-CIO (the largest labor organization in NH) for 25 years.  Mark has been recognized nationally for defeating anti-worker “right to work” legislation in many legislative battles.   Mark is campaigning upon the beliefs that every worker deserves decent wages, good health care, a family friendly workplace, affordable education and to be treated with dignity and respect, and that working families deserve an economy that works for them.

The guest speaker will be followed by action items and community organizing.  This meeting of the Tri-Town Democrats of Barnstead, Gilmanton and Alton will be held at the Wagner Barn at 63 French Road in Gilmanton.  Come for socializing and potluck any time between 6:15 pm and 6:30 pm.

This meeting is open to all residents of Barnstead, Alton and Gilmanton who consider themselves moderate, liberal or progressive Democrats or like-minded Independents.  Potluck items to share are encouraged but not required.  For more information, email [email protected] or visit the “Barnstead, Gilmanton and Alton Democrats” Facebook page.

Join Us For Holy Week And Easter Services At CCNB (And An Egg Hunt Too!)

Join us for worship during Holy Week and Easter at Congregational Church of North Barnstead, UCC

Thursday evening, March 29th at 7pm we gather for the Maundy Thursday and Tenebrae service, remembering Jesus’ last night with his disciples. On that night, Jesus washed the feet of his disciple and said, “Love one another as I have loved you.” We will receive communion and all are welcome at the communion table. We then move into the service of Tenebrae, the Latin word for shadows as we hear about Jesus’ betrayal, arrest, passion, trial, death and burial with a gradual extinguishing of lights.

This is powerful service that draws us into the events that surrounded Jesus in his last days and hours, preparing our hearts us for the resurrection to come.

On Sunday, April 1st, the joy of the resurrection will resound at our 10 am worship service, with brass and hymns and the blessed Easter story told for all ages. After worship there will be refreshments and an Easter Egg Hunt for children.

CCNB is located at 504 North Barnstead Road, at the north side of Center Barnstead. From Alton, take 28S toward Barnstead. Turn left onto Peacham Road.  Going north from Barnstead on Rte. 28, turn right on Peacham Road, travel to the end of the road, and turn right on North Barnstead Road. The church is ¼ mile on the left. Parking is on the street; there is a drop off area in front of the church and accessible parking. We are child friendly and welcome the joyful noise of young children.
