Summer Concert Series
After a
week’s hiatus to enjoy the Pittsfield Balloon Rally, the Barnstead
Summer Concert Series is back in full swing, presenting the Blues
Tonight Band at 6:00 pm on Saturday, August 9. This powerful, hard
hitting blues band is fast becoming known for their original tunes.
Songs from the band’s most recent album, Zombie Blues, released in
2012, are available for preview on their website,
www.bluestonightband.com. Three of the band members,
Craig Farrington, Steve Brooks and Dave Bottom formed the Laconia area
band, L.A. East, and reunited to form the Blues Tonight Band with the
addition of band mates Erik Anderson and Alan Doyle. The band recently
competed in the International Blues Challenge, held this past January in
Memphis. Come on out and join us for what is sure to be a high energy,
toe-tapping, shoe shuffling performance. See you at the show! As
always, smoking, alcohol and glass containers are prohibited on the
Parade Grounds.

County
Commissioner Candidates Thomas And Burchell To Speak At Next Meeting Of
Barnstead-Alton-Gilmanton Republican Committee (BARC’G) On Tuesday,
August 12
The
Barnstead-Alton-Gilmanton Republican Committee (BARC’G) has announced
that their next monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 12 at
6:30 pm at J.J. Goodwin’s Restaurant (upstairs dining room), 769 Suncook
Valley Highway (Rt 28), in Center Barnstead.
With the
September 9th Primary only one month from now, attention remains focused
on those candidates hoping to have the opportunity to represent the
towns of Alton, Barnstead, and Gilmanton. The winners of the Primary
will go on to run against their Democrat opponents in the November
General Election.
Of
particular note is that incumbent Republican District 2 County
Commissioner John Thomas of Belmont, and his Republican opponent, Dick
Burchell of Gilmanton, will be attending and speaking at this month’s
meeting. District 2 encompasses the towns of Alton, Barnstead, Belmont,
and Gilmanton. In addition, other local candidates (in a primary or
not) are encouraged to attend this meeting; it will be the last
opportunity for local candidates to address the Committee’s members and
guests prior to the Primary.
BARC’G
meetings are open to Republicans and like-minded Independents from
Alton, Barnstead, and Gilmanton, and any other towns in New Hampshire.
The August 12 meeting offers you, as a voter, to learn about the
candidates, and to make informed decisions in the voting booth on
Primary Day.
Per the
usual meeting format, if you’re interested in having dinner (at your
option) or wish to socialize before the meeting, plan to arrive as early
as 5:30pm.
The
Committee reminds you to bring a non-perishable food item (cans of soup,
tuna fish, etc, etc) to the meeting for distribution to local food
pantries.
For more
information, please send an email to
[email protected]
or [email protected].
US Senate
Candidate Bob Smith And State Senate Candidate Kathy Lauer-Rago To
Address
Belknap
County Republican Committee
On
Wednesday, August 13
The next
monthly meeting of the Belknap County Republican Committee has been
scheduled for Wednesday, August 13 at 6:30 pm at the Top of the Town
Restaurant, 88 Ladd Hill Rd in Belmont.
The clock
is ticking as the State of New Hampshire moves toward the Primary
Election on September 9th. With that in mind, it’s time for voters to
begin finalizing their decisions regarding who they’re going to vote for
on the 9th. The Committee has had state-wide and local candidates
address the Committee each month, and the August meeting will continue
with that tradition. This month’s August meeting will feature State
Senate District 7 candidate Kathy Lauer-Rago, and Keynote Speaker US
Senate candidate Bob Smith. Lauer-Rago will be facing incumbent
Democrat Senator Andrew Hosmer in November, while Smith is vying in the
September 9th primary for the opportunity to face incumbent Democrat US
Senator Jeanne Shaheen in November.
Belknap
County GOP meetings are open to ALL Republicans and like-minded
independents. Per their usual meeting format, if you’re interested in
having dinner (at your option) and/or wish to socialize before the
meeting, plan to arrive as early as 5:00 pm.
The
Committee once again reminds everyone planning to attend to bring a
non-perishable food item to the meeting for distribution to local food
