Summer Concert Series
This
Saturday, July 19 at 6:00 pm, Barnstead Parks and Recreation is happy to
welcome Truffle back to the Summer Concert Series stage.
The Truffle
acoustic trio consists of David Bailey (bass, vocals), Ned Chase
(mandolin, guitar, lap steel & vocals), and Dave Gerard (vocals,
acoustic & resonator guitars). These three musicians have been creating
music together since 1986. They have performed in all but ten states
across the U.S., playing as many as 275 shows in one year.
Truffle has
achieved widespread popularity by headlining many respected venues as
well as sharing the stage with international acts such as Little Feat,
Phish, The Band, Dave Matthew’s Band, David Lindley, and Blues Traveler
to name only a few.
Truffle
has released five albums, as well as contributing to Gerard’s four solo
records and assorted compilations. Their music has also appeared on
multiple major motion picture soundtracks.
The trio’s
groove-driven acoustic style has a sound all its own. With elements of
soul, bluegrass, R&B, and world beat, they bring a well rounded set of
“music-Americana” to the stage. Their love of acoustic music, and a
different set list and approach from their electric shows, creates a
truly unique listening experience. We hope you will enjoy the show!
Please
support the Barnstead Historical Society, which will be on hand offering
concessions. As always, please remember that smoking, alcohol and glass
containers are prohibited on the Parade Grounds.
Nighthawk
Hollow Seniors News
Submitted
By Beverly A. Goodrich, Secretary
The
Nighthawk Hollow Seniors enjoyed a lunchtime cookout at Christine
Sanborn’s cottage on Suncook Lake in Barnstead on Wednesday, July 2.
Members grilled meats, and also devoured corn on the cob, pasta salad,
Fritos, butter pecan ice cream, soft drinks, but our tummies were too
full to partake of the muffins, cherries, apple crisp, or s’mores.
Even though
it was hot and muggy, a cool breeze eventually cooled us off and then it
clouded over and started to rain. A short business meeting followed.
On August
6, at 12 noon, we will meet at the Barnstead Town Hall. Please bring a
sandwich and a drink for yourself. We will be reminiscing about our
childhood years - what fun we had!
To join,
just come! Dues at $4 a year are a bargain. For more infomation, please
call President, Christine Sanborn, 875-2676.
