Letter To The Editor
I am
running for a third term in the New Hampshire State legislature as an
INDEPENDENT. In social issues, I am personally
and religiously conservative, but as a public representative, I
consistently support the right of people to choose their own path even
if I believe these wrong personal decisions may cause them and society
pain in the future. I have stood up against efforts to
radically change many of the basic foundations of the healthy system of
laws, developed over the years, which have made New Hampshire one of the
best and balanced states in the Union in the area of low taxes, personal
freedom, employment, low crime rate, education and compassion for our
neighbors, who are elderly, disabled and poor. I will continue to seek
the efficient use of tax dollars and encourage Private-Public
partnerships (as exemplified in the new Alton Community Center Project,
which I have led) that can achieve our common goals without picking
winners and losers.
In my 48
year career as pastor of medium sized churches, I have been a very
fiscally responsible manger of other people’s money, while creatively
advancing the growth and health of the organization. This mindset has
continued since I entered the political arena as selectman and
legislator. I have sought to achieve productive results with limited
government funds combined with volunteer involvement and private sector
contribution. In general, I believe that government should create or
respond to opportunities where an environment can be created for
non-profits and private individuals to work together improving and
supporting a vital, healthy community.
If you
want a legislator who seeks to address the complex issues before us
with respect and honest dialogue , I would appreciate your vote this
November as State Representative from Belknap District #8 (Alton,
Barnstead and Gilmanton)

Letter To
The Editor
It’s been
several years since Barnstead has had a representative in the New
Hampshire House who has worked to support my family and other working
families in my community. In November, Barnstead will have a chance to
send someone to the NH House who understands what it takes to support,
preserve and protect our families, our schools, our communities and our
environment.
Bruce
Marriott’s priority is supporting families through access to healthcare,
secure jobs, excellent public schools, affordable higher education,
safer communities, and a healthy environment. He is a stark contrast to
our current House Representative, Guy Comtois who voted to repeal public
kindergarten, repeal consumer protections, to legalize excessive
interest rates for title loans and “installment loans”, and to repeal
coverage of early intervention services for children. Guy Comtois voted
against funding for community mental health services for children and
adults, against expanding Medicaid to cover working families without
health insurance, against prohibiting certain employer discrimination,
and against increasing the minimum wage in NH. The list is far longer,
but suffice to say that Guy Comtois had a 100% rating by Americans for
Prosperity, a billionaire funded anti-government extremist group that
lobbies for corporate welfare, slashing environmental protections,
undermining good secure jobs, and abolishing public education.
Remember in
November that our local races at the bottom of the ballot have a huge
impact on our families. We need to get out to vote and get others out to
vote for Bruce Marriott who will work for us in the NH House.
We are
ready for a change from the obstructionist policies that have diverted
us from creating jobs and building our communities. Let’s make Barnstead
a partner in moving New Hampshire forward. Vote for Bruce Marriott to
represent Barnstead in the New Hampshire House.

Executive
Councilor Joe Kenney To Address
Belknap
County Republican Committee
On
Wednesday, October 8
The Belknap
County Republican Committee has announced that their next monthly
meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, October 8 at 6:30 pm at the
Top of the Town Restaurant, 88 Ladd Hill Rd in Belmont.
As you
probably know, the campaign season is in “full swing”! With that in
mind, the Committee is pleased to announce that Executive Councilor Joe
Kenney will be their guest speaker at the Oct 8 meeting. Kenney won the
special election earlier this year to fill the late Ray Burton’s seat as
the District 1 Executive Councilor, and is now running for a full 2-year
term on what is also know as the “Governor’s Council”. Kenney will
share his many accomplishments during his abbreviated term, as well as
his plans and goals for the next two years.
As is
always the case, Belknap County GOP meetings are open to ALL Republicans
and like-minded Independents. Per their usual meeting format, if you’re
interested in having dinner (at your option) and/or wish to socialize
before the meeting, plan to arrive as early as 5:00 pm.
The
Committee once again reminds everyone planning to attend to bring a
non-perishable food item to the meeting for distribution to local food
pantries.
