Brownie Troop Organizing
Two Community Service Events
Barnstead
Brownie Troop 20887 here with the ladies from Pet Tails Rescue (far left
Judy Zarlenga and far right Sandra Hassett) and with the girls is
“Cotton” who was rescues by Pet Tails and now has his forever home with
Judy.
Barnstead
Brownie troop 20887 is looking for the help from the community on their
newest journey. The girls have teamed up with Pet Tails Rescue, a
non-profit organization in the community of Northwood. Pet Tails Rescue
is dedicated to the rescue and placement of dogs and cats from
overcrowded, high-kill shelters in the south and transports them to NH
to find their “forever” homes.
The Brownie
Troop invited them to their meeting in February to learn about what they
do and helped them out by writing thank you letters to the local people
who have rescued an animal. The Brownies are currently collecting
donations for Pet Tails and we are asking for the support of the
community to assist. Pet Tails is in need of the following items: dry
dog and cat food, washable blankets and cotton towels, paper towels, pet
wipes, Clorox wipes and copy paper.
If you
would like to make a donation, boxes have been left at Barnstead
Elementary School, Prospect Mountain High School, Hannaford’s of Alton
and Maxfields Hardware in Pittsfield. All donations are appreciated to
help out this wonderful organization. You can visit Pet Tails Rescue on
Facebook or at www.pettailsrescue.org.
Also, the
Brownie Troop is planning on being part of the Greeters at Pease AFB
soon. They will be there to welcome home soldiers who have been away in
combat. We will be greeting them with big smiles and Girl Scout
Cookies. We are asking for your help to make our goal of 100 donated
boxes to be delivered on the day of our greet. Donation boxes can be
purchased and we will deliver them on our scheduled day. To purchase
donation boxes please visit us at our upcoming cookie sale on March 23
at Barnstead Elementary School between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm.
Again, the
Brownies thank you for all of your support.
New Art
Display At The Barnstead Library
The Oscar
Foss Memorial Library in Center Barnstead is very pleased to have a
wonderful display of photography by Barbara Sinclair-Pappas. Several of
Barbara’s amazing nature photos are here through the month of April and
can be viewed during regular library hours.
Ms.
Sinclair-Pappas is a self-taught nature photographer, augmenting her
early knowledge through local workshops. During her career as an
early-childhood educator, she first used a digital camera to record the
spontaneous experiences of her young students. Once retired, she took
camera in hand and focused the lens of the yard and gardens surrounding
her home in Chichester. Ms. Sinclair-Pappas has a book of photography
titled “In a Chichester Backyard.”
A quote
from Ms. Sinclair-Pappas states… “I am amazed at the wealth of wildlife
I continually discover so close to home! I especially enjoy the
intimate nature of macro-photography and the fascinating faces of nature
it brings into focus.”
The Library
is very honored to have this beautiful “gallery” for you to view. Drop
by and get the “spring feeling” with just a glance at these lovely
photos.
