Not Old Home Day In Barnstead
Saturday,
August 25 2012 will not be Old Home Day in Barnstead. But a different
sort of family-oriented community event is being crafted by a number of
different organizations working together to present several activities
for the day.
The day
will be starting with a pancake breakfast at the Parade Fire Station in
the morning that is being presented by the Barnstead Fire-Rescue
Department’s full-time firefighters. The exact time for the breakfast
will be determined and communicated shortly. But, if you have not
enjoyed a pancake breakfast prepared by your firefighters in previous
years, you really need to treat yourself to this one!
Following
that, the Barnstead Firefighters Association (BFA) will host the first
annual BFA 5K road race and Fun Walk. Pre-registrations must be received
by August 17. Registration forms are available at
www.bfr06.com, by
email at [email protected] or
by calling 312-5648. On-line registration is also available at
www.running4free.com. Race day registration will be available,
starting at 7:30 am in front of the Parade Fire Station. The race will
start at 9:00 am at the Parade Grounds.
For the
first time this year, the Missions Group of the Parade Congregational
Church is sponsoring the Gathering On The Green at the Parade Grounds
starting at 9:00 am. Crafters, yard-salers, hobbyists, and tinkerers
will all be offering their wares for sale until mid-afternoon. To
reserve a vendor space, please contact Jeanne Terry at 269-5441 or
Sylvia Locke at 267-7353.
A barbecue
chicken dinner will be presented by a joint effort between Barnstead
Fire-Rescue Department’s full-time firefighters and Barnstead
Firefighters Association in the evening at the Parade Fire Station.
Come enjoy an old-fashioned delicious summer chicken barbecue.
The events
of the day will conclude with the band concert at the Parade hosted by
the Barnstead Parks and Recreation Department as part of their Summer
Concert Series. The band on the evening of August 25 will be the
Fountain Square Ramblers, a brass band who will bring the toe-tapping
sounds of Dixieland to Barnstead Parade. The concert will start at 6:00
pm. There will be no fireworks that evening.
Come join
your friends and neighbors for the various fun activities planned for
August 25 at Barnstead Parade.
