Come visit the horses, their owners, and the baby foals. There will be cart rides, hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, soda, and much more.

We are looking forward to a fun day.

Just a reminder that the Barnstead Library is having a huge book sale. We did not have a sale during 2011, so this one will be a big one. We ask for a "donation" rather than a "set" individual price on books, so come and take lots.

The sale begins on Wednesday, April 11th from 1-5 pm; Thursday, April 12th from 5-8 pm; Friday, April 13th from 2-5 pm and Saturday, April 14th from 9 am to noon. See you at the Library!

Sticks and Stones Farm is offering a CSA (community supported agriculture) this year. A CSA is a bond between the members and farmer. We will provide members an allotment of fresh produce weekly for 16 weeks, starting in June. We are a hydroponic farm located at 107 White Oak Road, Center Barnstead, NH. We do not use GMO’s (genetically modified seeds) on our farm. Please visit our website www.sticksandstonesfarm.net or call us for more information at (603) 776-8989.

John Page, Director of WOL South Africa Speaking At

Center Barnstead Christian Church

This Sunday, April 15th, John Page, Director of Word of Life South Africa, will be speaking at the Center Barnstead Christian Church. John and his wife, Christy Page have been serving with Word of Life since 1992. They worked in Schroon Lake, NY for 13 years at the Bible Institute and as Director of the Word of Life Ranch. In January 2006, God moved their family to Johannesburg, South Africa, where they continue to work with youth, but in a new country.

South Africa is a country of diversity, not just in the scenery, but more so in politics, races, and religions. With an average life expectancy of 49 years, average age population of 24 years old, and a youth population of 70% of the total population, there is no shortage of work to do. The focus of their work is with young people believing that this is where the biggest opportunity for change is… personally as well as countrywide.

Some of the tools they utilize are Bible clubs, drama in high schools, camps, mission trips, leadership training, sports, and an intensive one year program where 10-13 university aged youth live with them for an intense year of Bible school, discipleship, ministry training and life skills training.

Come and hear what John Page has to share from God’s Word this Sunday. Sunday School begins at 9:00 am and Morning Worship follows at 10:00 am. The Center Barnstead Christian Church is located on Route 126, next to the Town Hall. For more information, please call the church at 269-8831.

Arlene J. Wicks

Arlene J. Wicks went to be with the Lord April 6th, joining her beloved husband Harry and granddaughter Cami Fiske.

Arlene lived most of her life in Pittsfield and Barnstead, spending her last years being lovingly cared for at the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen. An avid seamstress and cook, Arlene also loved knitting and tending to her flowers. Side by side with Harry, some of her happiest hours were spent hosting gatherings in their home, including the 55-plus club they started in the 80s that continues today.

Arlene leaves her daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Charlie Fiske; nieces Darla Teston and Sharon Doherty, and nephew Tom Prive; grandchildren Chuck, Phyllis, Robert, and Chris Fiske, Matthew, Angela and Justin Wicks, and several great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at the family’s convenience. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Merrimack County Nursing Home Residents’ Fund.

The Cremation Society of New Hampshire, Boscawen Office, is assisting the family with arrangements. To view an online memorial please go to www.csnh.com
