Celebrating National 4-H week the Victory Workers 4-H Club has a window display on Main Street in Pittsfield. Thanks to Paul Rogers for the use of windows in the former video store. We also are holding our Annual 4-H Cookie and Candy Bar Sale this month. Several varieties are now available for only $3.75 per package. Candy Bars are $1.00 each. Your support to the 4-H youth in your community is greatly appreciated.   If a 4-H member has not contacted you, please call 4-H leaders Pamela Clattenburg 269-3200, Pauline Wheeler 435-8752, Mark Riel 435-6346 or Corine Miller 435-8497.

It is time again, as the trees change, that we need to start thinking about Thanksgiving and serving our fellow man. If you would like to help us with food or a time donation, please give us a call at 603-736-9954. Again this year will be at the Epsom Fire Station from 12-2 pm, open to all in the surrounding communities. Please feel free to join us and be blessed.

The Barnstead Farmers and Gardeners Network is holding a Round Table Discussion on preparing for next year’s garden. Whether you are a novice, or a more seasoned gardener, there will be something here for you.

The workshop will be held on Thursday, October 18th, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Barnstead Public Library. This event is open to the public, and all interested Barnstead residents are encouraged to attend.

Please plan to join us for an interesting and informative discussion on home gardening!

Votesmart And The New Voter ID Law
Submitted By Heather Carter

If you live in New Hampshire and don’t have an ID, **you can still vote**! You’ll just have to sign an affidavit at the polls. Please share this important info so that people don’t lose out on their right to vote by thinking they’ll be turned away at the polls. Voter turnout is very important! Please be as cooperative as possible at the polls to ensure a smooth, quick voting process for everyone who is there to vote. Delays and long lines may deter people from voting.

If you have questions or problems, call the Election Hotline at 1-866-868-3703.

According to Votesmart.org:

Voter Registration
Registration Deadline: You may register at the polls on Election Day by 5 pm. If you would like to be listed in the registration database before Election Day, your registration form must be received by your local Board of Elections 10 days before Election Day. Your registration will be valid either way.

Party Affiliation: Undeclared voters may choose either party’s ballot in the primary election.  If you are registered with a party you must vote that party’s ballot in the primary election. If you voted on a party ballot in the last primary election, you are now a registered member of that party unless you filled out a card to return to undeclared status with the supervisors of the checklist.

Qualifications
Age: Must be 18 years or older on Election Day

Citizenship: Must be a United States citizen

Residency: There is no minimum period of time you are required to have lived in the state before being allowed to register.  You may register as soon as you move into your new community.

ID Requirements: A person who has in his or her immediate possession must present one of the following to prove their identity:
• New Hampshire driver’s license
• Armed services identification
• Other photo identification issued by the United States government
• Photo driver’s license issued by any state or federal government
• United States passport
• Photo identification issued by local or state government

Other forms of photo identification judged to be legitimate and trustworthy by the Supervisors, such as
• ID badges issued by hospitals, employers, or educational institutions
• Verification of the person’s identity by another person registered as a voter and known to the supervisor or clerk; or
• Other reasonable means as determined by the Supervisors
As a last resort, a person may prove identity by completing a qualified voter affidavit (RSA 654:12, III)

New registrants must prove citizenship. Supervisors should require an applicant to prove citizenship by presenting any of the following:
-Birth Certificate
-United States Passport
-Naturalization papers
-Qualified voter affidavit; or
-Any other reasonable document establishing that the applicant is a United States citizen

Obtaining A Voter Registration Form
Online: New Hampshire does not provide voter registration forms online.
In person: Request an application from the county clerk
By mail/in writing: If you meet the state’s voter requirements and qualifications and are unable to register in person because of physical disability, religious beliefs, military service, or because of temporary absence, you may register by mail. See absentee qualifications and procedures below.

Other Voter Registration Application Information: It may be easier for you to register with your community’s Supervisors of the Checklist. By law they are required to meet on the Saturday 10 days prior to each election. Check the local newspaper(s) or call your clerk’s office for the date and time of such meeting.

Verifying Your Voter Registration Status
Phone: Contact your county clerk to verify your registration
Absentee Ballot

Qualifications
Who can vote absentee:
• Absent on the day of the election from the city, town, or unincorporated place where you are domiciled.
• You cannot appear in public on election day because of observance of a religious commitment.
• You are unable to vote in person due to a disability.
• You cannot appear at any time during polling hours at your polling place because an employment obligation requires you to remain physically at work or to be in transit to or from work from the time the polls open until after the time the polls close.

Obtaining An Absentee Ballot
Online: Download the appropriate absentee ballot.
In person: Request an application from the county clerk.
By mail: Send a request to your County Clerk.
Military and overseas voting: Read New Hampshire’s http://sos.nh.gov/UOCAVAFAQ.aspx and apply for a Federal Post Card Application(FPCA).

CBCC To Have Guest Speaker This Sunday

Barnstead Church Moody_head_shot.jpg     Barnstead Church.jpg

Janet and Craig Parshall will be speaking at Center Barnstead Christian Church on Sunday, October 14th for Sunday School (9:00 – 9:45 am) and for the morning worship service (10:00 – 11:30 am).

Janet, best known for her national talk show, “In the Market with Janet Parshall” is heard weekdays        throughout southern NH from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on WDER 92.1 FM/WDER 1320 AM as well as locally on WWPC 91.7 FM and WVNH 91.1 FM. She recently authored the book, “Buyer Beware - Finding the Truth in the Marketplace of Ideas.” This work is a non-fiction look through the lens of Scripture at current issues confronting the Christian Church today.

Janet will be discussing the “Spiritual State of the Union”, challenging the Church to be biblical in its approach to the world.

Craig, who is Senior Vice-President and General Counsel for the National Religious Broadcasters organization, has also been busy at the keyboard having just completed a book, co-authored with ‘Left Behind’ series author, Tim LaHaye, entitled “Brink of Chaos.”  The novel explores what America and the world might look like just before the beginning of the Tribulation, with a corrupt White House beholden to the international community, loss of basic liberties along with a political and economic collapse.

He will be sharing his insights on free speech attacks against Christians, and how this might fit into end times prophecy.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear Janet and Craig Parshall right here in your own backyard! Center Barnstead Christian Church is located next to the Center Barnstead Fire Department and Town Hall at 116 South Barnstead Road, Center Barnstead.  Call 437-WDER (9337) for more information.
