Letter To
The Editor
Just a short letter to let my customers know, Andrew Houle
Ent. LLC Your Appliance Solution, is not out of business. We have merged
our Pittsfield store with our store at 10 Shackford Road, Center
Barnstead, N.H. O3225. Our phone numbers are 603-269-3971 or 435-8320.
The reason for the move was because I broke my other leg, and have
to cut cost. We are still working, a little slower, but same quality.
I thank everyone for your get well cards and well wishes. God bless
all of you, and thank you for your patronage.
Thank You and God Bless
Andrew Houle
Granite
Girls State
The American Legion Auxiliary of Barnstead, Post 42,
would like to offer a unique opportunity for a high school girl,
entering her senior year, who is interested in government, politics, and
current events.
This summer, girls from across New Hampshire will
meet with local leaders and American Legion Auxiliary representatives
for the 67th session of Granite Girls State. The program is a good
opportunity for girls considering college and can teach them the skills
necessary to take up leadership roles.
For one week, they will learn
about the inner workings of government, take part in mock elections, and
sponsor and debate their own bills. Through guest speakers and various
programs, Girls State educates young women on the importance of good
citizenship, enabling each girl to decide for herself what it means to
be an American.
Citizens of Girls State will have fun and build
lasting friendships, and two girls will be chosen to represent New
Hampshire at Girls Nation in Washington DC. In addition, worthwhile
scholarships are available.
The expense paid program will be held at
Rivier College in Nashua from June 26th to July 2nd. Interested families
in the area may contact Carol at 269-4694 or Cindy at 776-3091 by June
1st and will find more information at
www.alaforveterans.org.

The
Oscar Foss Memorial Library in Center Barnstead is extremely pleased to
sponsor another Art Show from our Barnstead Elementary School 8th
Graders. The first half of the art class demonstrated during the
month of April.
Starting May 5th, the 2nd half of the art projects
will be on display at the library. The show will be comprised of
paintings, drawings and sculptures which were all developed by the
students in class.
There will be an open reception to feature this
2nd group of students on Thursday evening, May 5th from 6 - 7 p.m.
Snacks and drinks will be offered in the Library Program Room to be
followed by a presentation of work from these gifted students.
Plan to join us for the reception, or drop by any time during the month
of May to view these spectacular pieces. We all were so amazed at
the April display!
This show will allow all of the residents in
Barnstead, who ordinarily aren’t able to get to the Elementary School,
to view some of the special efforts made by the BES students. We look
forward to your coming by the Barnstead Library in May to check out this
wide array of talent.
