Local Students Graduate From Keene State College
Saturday, May 7th, Keene State College’s Commencement honored its
biggest-ever graduating class. A total of 1,171 degrees were awarded to
1,093 students.
This
year’s graduates included the following local students:
Tyler
Donnelly of Barnstead, NH ( B.F.A.)
Kyle Paquette of Epsom, NH (
B.A.)
Amanda Fuller of Northwood, NH ( B.A.)
Patrick O’Connell of
Northwood, NH ( B.S.)
Among
the graduates at this year’s Commencement ceremony were two
long-standing students: Selleck Scofield and the Honorable Philip “Dale”
Pregent, Mayor of the City of Keene. Lifelong learner Selleck Scofield
graduated magna cum laude with a BA degree at 94 years young. Mayor of
Keene Philip “Dale” Pregent received his BA in social science, a degree
he began more than 50 years ago.
David
B. Staples was honored with the Granite State Award for his professional
accomplishments and dedication to service.
The
Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters will be presented to Stephen H. Taylor
who will address the graduates. Taylor is a farmer, journalist, and
former commissioner who will be honored for his dedication to the people
and culture of New Hampshire and for his effective leadership and
demonstrated success with public policy and advocacy.
Founded
in 1909 as a two-year normal school to meet New Hampshire’s need for
well-educated and effective teachers, Keene State College has evolved
into one of the most predominant liberal arts colleges in the nation.
With more than 40 programs of study, including a new nursing program,
Keene State College prepares students to think critically, act
creatively, and serve the greater good.
