Barnstead Old Home Day
The
Town of Barnstead needs YOU, yes YOU!! We are still in need of
volunteers to help with this year’s Old Home Day event. The Day is
fast approaching! Last year we had to cancel the Barnstead Old
Home Day event due to lack of volunteers. Don’t let that fate
happen this year. Please join our OHD Committee meeting on April
13, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. in the Barnstead Town Hall. Hope to see you
there. If you have any questions, please contact Peggy Sweeney at
435-6505.

The
Adoption Community of New England, Inc. (ACONE) is pleased to announce
that Kristen Hales of Barnstead will be presenting at the 38th Annual
New England Adoption Conference, Tales of the Journey: Past, Present &
Future. Kristen’s workshop, entitled Traveling to Pick Up Your
Child, will be among the more than 90 workshops presented at this year’s
conference on Saturday, April 2 at Bellingham High School, Bellingham,
MA.
Kristen
is a Ticket and Gate agent for Delta Airlines in Manchester and has been
working in the travel industry for more than 20 years. She has

of experience to help parents traveling out of the country to adopt.
The New
England Adoption Conference is the largest annual single day adoption
conference in the United States that welcomes everyone touched by
adoption. The conference brings together hundreds of adoptive parents,
birth parents, prospective adopters, adopted persons, and adoption
professionals to learn, share information and support each other.
The
conference attracts attendees from all New England states and even as
far away as Minnesota. “We are thrilled to have the quality of
presenters and workshops providing the most current adoption
information,” said ACONE Director and conference committee member, Julie
Pelletier-Rutkowski.
The
conference brochure, workshop descriptions, and registration materials
are available on ACONE’s web site at

Letter To
The Editor
Dear Editor:
I am writing this letter so the community
of Barnstead will know how I feel about a recent event with my daughter
at Barnstead Elementary School.
They were doing trust exercises in
gym and my daughter was injured due to some miscommunication. It was a
head injury and yes, it could have been more serious than it was, but it
was not. I believe the teacher handled the situation properly, and after
further discussion with my doctors, they felt the same way.
The
teacher was so upset that she followed up with us later that day. I want
to commend this teacher for being real and not fake like many are today.
She is a tremendous asset to the school.
I have contacted a member of
leadership in the school system and they don’t share the same view.
However, my question is, would they look at a child falling off a swing,
getting hurt in sports, or even someone falling in the lunchroom the
same? Accidents happen and we can get hurt in many ways.
Thanks to
all,
Walter Parelius

Elementary
School 8th Grade Artists Display At Barnstead Library
The Oscar Foss
Memorial Library in Center Barnstead is extremely pleased to sponsor two
art shows from our talented 8th grade students at Barnstead Elementary.
Starting April 7th, one-half of the art projects will be on display at
the library. The show will be comprised of paintings, drawings and
sculptures which were all developed by the students in class.
There
will be an open reception to feature the first group of students on
Thursday evening, April 7th from 6-7 p.m. Snacks and drinks will
be offered in the Library Program Room to be followed by a presentation
of work from these gifted students. Plan to join us for the
reception, or drop by any time during the months of April and May to
view these spectacular pieces.
The second show will feature the
second half of the 8th grade students and will have a reception on
Thursday, May 5th, again followed by the artists’ presentations.
This
show will allow all of the residents in Barnstead, who ordinarily aren’t
able to get to the Elementary School, to view some of the special
efforts made by the BES students. We look forward to your coming
by the Barnstead Library sometime in April and May to check out this
wide array of talent!
