The Barley House And WTPL FM Launch “Shop
And Buy NH”
Echoing
Governor Lynch’s State of the State push “to keep New Hampshire
working”, The Barley House and WTPL FM 107.7 will launch Shop and Buy
NH, a month long initiative to buy local and support New Hampshire
businesses. The event kicked off on Monday, February 1 at The Barley
House with an Irish breakfast; proceeds benefited Main Street
Concord, Inc., whose mission is to support downtown businesses. WTPL
broadcasted live from 6 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00
p.m. from The Barley House.
On
Thursday, February 4, The Barley House, located across from the state’s
capitol, invites area business owners to an appetizer social, dedicated
to celebrating and supporting New Hampshire business. They will also
host a NH Women’s Networking night on February 11.
“This
is a chance to meet fellow business owners and to recognize the best of
New Hampshire,” explains Deb Shea of the Barley House. Chef and owner,
Brian Shea, adds, “2010 marks our 10th year in downtown Concord and we
want to remind everyone that small business success is the cornerstone
of any economy. It is certainly a big part of New Hampshire’s growth.”
According to Governor Lynch, who publicly endorsed Shop and Buy NH on
WTPL, “We must act to help companies stay in business and to keep their
workers on the job.”
“I couldn’t agree more,” says Mr. Shea.
“We are in the hospitality business and we want to reach out to other
small business owners. By joining together, we offer each other a
place to get support and, perhaps, create new ideas to grow. Shop
and Buy NH keeps money in the state, keeps jobs in the state, and keeps
business in the state.”
Shop and Buy NH will also highlight the
nonprofit group, NH Made, whose mission is “to strengthen New
Hampshire’s state economy by increasing the awareness and demand for New
Hampshire-made products and services.” NH Made will be hosting a farm
and forest expo on February 5 and 6 at The Radisson in Manchester, NH.

Two
Legendary Blues Bands Featuring Guest Rock Stars
The biggest blues bash in Southern NH comes to The Rochester Opera House
on Friday, February 19th, when The James Montgomery Blues Band is joined
by Ernie & The Automatics and special guests.
The Automatics are a
Boston supergroup of sorts, featuring two past members of the platinum
selling band Boston (guitarist Barry Goudreau and drummer Sib Hashian),
along with gritty singer Brian Maes (who was part of RTZ with Goudreau
and Boston singer Brad Delp, then with Peter Wolf’s House Party 5),
bassist Tim Archibald (another alum of RTZ and Wolf’s band), saxman
Michael “Tunes” Antunes (John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band) and
rhythm guitarist Ernie Boch, who pulled it all together. The band is
backing their New Cd Low Expectations, all in an effort to bring their
blues band with a rock n roll edge to the national stage.
In the
midst of a tremendous resurgence, the James Montgomery Blues Band is on
fire getting ready to support their new CD that features Johnny Winter,
two members of Aerosmith, DMC, James Cotton and The Uptown Horns. James
is on fire, playing as good or better than he has in years, selling out
major gigs all over the East Coast.
