Bolstridge Family Returns from Hungary
The
Bolstridge Family will return after two years of study at Word of Life
Bible School in Toalmas Hungary. Charles, his wife PJ and their three
teenage children have been living, studying and ministering in Hungary
since September of 2007.
After
serving in the church in many capacities for most of their lives,
Charles and PJ realized that there was still so much to learn about the
Bible. Knowing the reputation of Word of Life Bible School in New York
for being an excellent program to learn and study the Bible, as well as,
gaining hands on ministry experience, they started making plans to go to
school. However, there was another option they had not considered until
they went on a mission trip to Word of Life Hungary. Not only did this
school offer the same excellent Bible program with some of the best
Bible teachers from around the world, but it also offered the
opportunity of a missionary living and serving experience. After praying
and discussing it with their family, they knew this was where God wanted
them to go.
For the
last two years, Charles and PJ have been full time students at the
school where they have 20 hours of class a week. They have done in depth
studies on the books of the Bible, Theology, Evangelism, Ministry
courses, Preaching and Hungarian language classes. Teachers came from
Hungary, United States, Israel, and Germany many of whom had doctoral
degrees from well known seminaries, as well as, a wealth of ministry
experience. The school included 52 students from 11 different countries
this year.
Charles and PJ had the privilege of being mentors and substitute
parents to many of their younger classmates. They spent Sunday nights
leading Bible studies on relationships and marriage for the students.
Their home was often a favorite place to visit or have a meal at.
Charles also served on the Sports ministry team which included going to
a high school on a weekly basis to share the gospel, as well as,
teaching basketball. He also coached an intramural local Hungarian
basketball team for 3 months, which allowed him to build relationships
with teens, as well as, adults and share the gospel with them. PJ home
schooled their children in addition to the everyday needs of taking care
of the family. Their children were also able to be involved with the
Bible school and ministry.
Chas
served as a teacher with the Sunday school team at an international
church in Budapest every week. He quickly learned his way around
Budapest and the public transport system. Jared was able to play his
bass guitar with the music ministry team in chapel and in several events
until it was stolen in March during a school break in.
Rachel
had the opportunity to baby-sit staff’s children, as well as, enjoy lots
of fun sleepovers at the girl’s dorms. They all took weekly Hungarian
classes, which enabled them to communicate with the neighborhood
children who they invited over to play soccer or football. They have all
loved living in the village, shopping in the local store, walking
everywhere, enjoying the lovely flowers and just being in the heart of
the Hungarian culture.
Leaving
the school community and Hungary will be very hard on the Bolstridge
Family, but they are so thankful for the training, schooling, and rich
experience they have had while there. However, they are joyful to return
to their home church (Center Barnstead Christian Church) to serve as
interns for the summer and are praying for their future opportunities.
The Center Barnstead Christian Church is located on Route 126, next to
the Town Hall. Morning service begins at 9:00 AM, followed by Sunday
School at 10:15 AM.
