Letter

Might it not be both wise and beneficial to periodically review and reconsider what obligations our nation has agreed to under International Law?

By doing so, we could reaffirm those agreements which we consider to be proper and reject those which we no longer wish to adhere to.

If we believe certain agreements under International Law to be wrong or detrimental to our nation, then reject them. If we believe the remainder of the agreements which we have become signatories to, to be right and beneficial to our nation, then abide by them, and not use twisted logic to circumnavigate or ignore them.

There’s an old saying: “A man is only as good as his word.”

The same can also be said of a nation.

Our nation, like many others, does not have a stellar reputation for abiding by the treaties and agreements we have made with others. Just ask any one of the few remaining people who were indigenous to this continent.

International Laws should not be agreed to with indifference, and any nation who is a signatory to them, and fails to abide by them, should not only be condemned, but also prosecuted. To do otherwise, is a mockery of the law.

To be both well-liked and respected by other nations is important, but to regain our own self-respect, as a nation, is imperative.

Let us not only return to who and what we once were, but let us aim even higher.
Isn’t this what America should be all about?
