Letter Re: Locke Lake Association Annual
Meeting
A new line item budget has been prepared and is
available at the office and a copy may be picked up. Line items have
been combined to show a total, rather than individual costs of the
products. Example, the used and new docks are the same line items.
($9000.00 are for new docks). By combining line items we do not get
an actual cost of all expenditures. This Is Your Money!! Please
examine this line Item budget very carefully and know where your
money is being spent. It is your right to inform the Board where you
would like your money distributed. It is the Board's job to be
responsible to handle the membership money as the members vote, not
to their own agenda. They are elected by you to represent your
wishes.
Remember to get your proxies to someone who is
attending the annual meeting by July 21st. The annual meeting is
July 26th. If possible please attend. It is extremely important to
make your wishes known.

Letter To The Editor
Re:
Locke Lake Association Annual Meeting
Dear Editor
In recent weeks a number of articles and flyers
have been written. First, the Board of Directors believes a proxy
should only be used if you cannot attend on July 26th because of
circumstances beyond your control. We believe this is one of the
most important meetings this association will ever hold and we want
you there.
Secondly, the budget will be presented and
explained. We believe you should have first hand information
directly from us to you to base your decisions. Third, when it comes
to the business of the association, you as owners have a right to
all the facts. You may go on-line, come to meetings or simply come
to the office for any information you may want. When I drive down
Colony Drive and I go into the neighborhood I come away with a sense
of pride that this area was and still is something special. That's
why I close to live here. I know some things have changed over the
40 years, but most things have not. Try to remember why you decided
to move to Locke Lake. Please come to the annual meeting and help us
keep what we have.
Sincerely,
Michael

Letter Re: Locke Lake Association Annual Meeting
If this
budget was to be passed by the association, how would the Board
follow through with the expected expenditures? Going by their past
performance this year they have not shown any concern for the
members wishes. For example, at the last annual meeting the members
voted for a 3% increase for the administrator, but the board chose
to give 4%. Why ask for a vote if the Board does not intend to
follow through? The membership voted a few years back to have both
dams repaired. The funds were appropriated. The small dam was
repaired. But the Board in its wisdom decided that a beaver was far
more important than the residents surrounding the dam. By the time
they decided to repair it, winter had set in and it could not be
done. During the winter the pipes in the ground had shifted. Now the
dam cannot be repaired as planned. The cost was $23,000 and now
because of new regulations requiring a new permit for about $3000.
plus the cost of engineers and unknown other costs it may cost
$50,000 or more. What could have been done is not done because the
Board dragged its feet. The lodge was scheduled to be done and was
not. Why? What makes construction of docks more important than the
repairs that the membership has already voted on? The docks serve
only a minority of members. What about the roads? Aren't they
important.
Let's
make this Board accountable.
