Letter To The Editor

In response to the letter about the care at the Catholic Cemetery. My family has a plot there and we spend a lot time up there. In the last two and a half years or so I have seen a lot of work done to improve the look of it. Trees trimmed back to stop the damage to the fences, fences repaired, trash cleaned up from over the stonewall and containers put out for use and emptied as needed.

Dandelions are out and seem to be back the day after we mow our own lawn... In the time it took you to write your letter you could have done what we did and taken them out yourself. As for the person caring for the cemetery, thank you very much for all the hard work you have done there. To the letter writer, open your eyes.

Sincerely,

Brenda J. Cowdry

Barnstead Old Home Day 2008

The Barnstead Old Home Day Committee for 2008 would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to Audrius Pauliukonis, who has donated the design of the Old Home Day logo for the second year in a row! Audi is a local artist who creates art for Midnight Moon Tattoo. The 2008 Old Home Day theme is "Old Time Country Fair" and Audi has created a stunning graphic depicting a day at a country fair. Thank-you, Audi!

The country fair logo is reflected on the 2008 Old Home Day schedule booklets and theme T-shirts. Schedule booklets, T-shirts, Old Home Day baseball caps and raffle tickets are available at the Summer Band Concerts at Barnstead Parade, Saturday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The first Band Concert of this summer is scheduled for Saturday, June 28. Look for the Old Home Day volunteers circling the crowd with a little red wagon! Old Home Day merchandise and raffle tickets are also available at Town Hall during regularly scheduled business hours.

We've got a lot planned for Old Home Day on August 23 this year! In addition to the long-time favorite activities, we are adding some new exciting activities! This year we will have country fair games and contests, a rock climbing wall, a dunk booth, a police dog demonstration, and a bike parade and rodeo. And, you can look forward to Old Home Day favorite activities like the 5K road race, pancake breakfast, auction, Barnstead Citizen of the Year, band concert and, of course, the fireworks!! This year, the Old Home Day dinner will be presented by the Suncook Valley Sno-Riders. It's going to be a great meal _ get your tickets early!
