It’s time for another fair at the First Congregational Church in Pittsfield. On Saturday, December 6th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Dorcas Guild will be sponsoring the Annual Craft Fair which features several different crafters from Pittsfield and surrounding towns. This fair has gained a wonderful reputation over the years for the great variety of unusual items offered by the artisans in the area. If you haven’t attended before, make an effort to attend, you will be glad you did.

Letter
Locke Lake Colony Members Wake Up!!!!

Your president and board of directors have taken upon themselves to do what they want, and NOT do that which the majority of the membership wishes. In today’s difficult economy a 2% raise is very realistic and better than most companies are giving.
However, your President of BOD, does not respect the members, and is secretly choosing instead to give APPROX. 7% RAISE, cost of living increases, merit increases, 4 weeks vacation after ONLY 2 YEARS of employment with 3 weeks paid sabbatical, and pay bonuses in the thousands of dollars for work that is part of the administrator’s job description which shall go back to her date of hire and many more benefits are being considered.

The president of BOD doesn’t respect the members of the colony, he insists upon protecting the administrator with no regard for the membership. Why do we need an Employee agreement?

The president of BOD hasn’t considered the 3 other full time employees who work very hard to better the association.

This will increase your annual special assessment even more!!!!!

Mike Ranaldi informed association members at the last monthly meeting the special assessment is going to be raised.

This is insanity and not in the best interests of LLCA.  The BOD fiduciary responsibilities are to the members of LLCA. Voice your concerns now by calling Board members and the Attorney General’s office.

ACT NOW BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!!!!!

Sincerely,
Judith Cropper

Every Penny Counts

By Joyce Beairsto
The Children Of The Congregational Church Of North Barnstead (UCC) have decided to buy a Christmas gift of a water buffalo through the Heifer International program. Every Sunday from Nov.9th to Dec.14th  each child will donate their share towards the $250 needed.

The children have learned that water buffalos are one of the most prized livestock in many farming families throughout the world. They provide pulling power which cuts down on the amount of time needed to plant crops. Secondly, they provide an instant source of nutrition from their rich milk. Thirdly, families can use buffalo manure for an organic fertilizer that can help increase crop production.

In years past, the Heifer program has sent Water Buffalos to help others in the Philippines, Thailand and China to overcome poverty and hunger.

The Reading Tree at OFML

There’s a tree growing in Barnstead, in the children’s section of the Oscar Foss Memorial Library.

Although it’s autumn, every day our tree grows more and more leaves – autumn leaves, leaves of many colors, leaves with all types of autographs, designs and words.

Each time we look at it, there’s more to see and read and be uplifted by because this is a special tree, a magic tree, a Reading Tree.  It is growing “Leaves of Gratitude” that share our thankful thoughts, our blessings, and our expressions of gratitude.

Throughout this season of the harvest and Thanksgiving, our library patrons, especially our youngest, have bedecked our Reading Tree with little paper leaves written with their thoughts or a favorite quote.

Here are some especially inspiring leaves:  “I am thankful for my grandfathers because they helped our country and one died before I was born, so I love them so much.”  “ I am grateful for the family and friends in my life.” “I am thankful for our freedom.” “I am grateful to have two sisters to share my life with.” “I am grateful for my food.”

“I am grateful for my new friend…She did need surgery and I am thankful that she is home now and doing well.  God bless her.”  “Thank you Life!” “I am thankful for books.” “I am blessed to have a caring family.” “I am happy because I love flowers.” “I am thankful for the beauties in life.”

Thank you to all our patrons for sharing and growing our Reading Tree.  Stop by and read!
